I recently got into GMRS and needed something that was tuned more for that band.I tested 2 different Nagoya UT72 antennas which are supposed to work great with MURS (~152-155mhz.) These are 1/4 wave at VHF, coil loaded at the base and about 20" tall. I measured both antennas below 1.5 SWR and there were no apparent problems with the coax. These did increase transmit range but actually reduced reception range significantly...Nagoya UT-72, why is my min swr at 164 MHz not 144-148 MHz? I calibrated for the adapter properly but I’m getting 4.11 SWR at 144 MHzI am currently running a Genuine Nagoya UT-72. It seemed to work fine with my Radioddity DB-20G, DB-25G and BTech 50x1, but the Wouxan KG-1000G seems to receive signals that are weak and scratchy and the transmission appears to be somewhat weak as well.With a max output power of 20W, the GMRS-20V2 uses a standard UHF antenna connector (SO-239), so you can connect it to any GMRS antenna with PL-259.
